As a result, the VPS installed somewhere in Germany went completely out of control. That was the last thing I saw yesterday, June 9, before I fled to bed. This morning I had a good look at the setup of our German friends. Then I started a so-called rescue environment, from which I could access data files. Everything quickly copied to home, and then set up the VPS all over again. If you know what to do, it can be done pretty quickly. In just nine hours, the VPS ran completely super, with all websites freshly installed again. And now everything also has a valid SSL certificate.
