Is it finally a bit quiet on the migration front, the jitters are rearing their heads again...

I already wrote it at the beginning of the previous migration cycle: I am very happy with the VPS as it functions at Strato, but there is still a lot to be desired. And after all the adventures around the home server, I know I can find much of the functionality Strato offers me. For example, with Virtualmin, I can do everything I use Plesk for.

And finally, Strato is cheap, but certainly not the cheapest!

After a long search, I turned my attention to the German company Hetzner, where I can get a "cloud server", based on a Xeon CPU with 2 cores and 4GB ram, so comparable to my home server. It only comes with 40 GB of disk space, but that is enough for Ubuntu 18:04, Drupal 8 and Wordpress installations. Moreover, you can always add extra disk space for very little money. Let's give it a try. In this setup, it will cost me less than € 60.00 per year and I think that is a very nice price.

I placed the order and it was activated within seconds. Then completed a meanwhile standard program. All that trial and error of the past year has been excellent preparation for that. First updated the default installation of Ubuntu 18:04 to the latest versions of everything. Then installed Virtualmin, which automatically includes Webmin and Usermin. I was able to refer the domain SBGS.NL to the new server through Strato's DNS server. And there it has meanwhile been defined as a virtual server. Installed Drupal 8 and created a site for SBGS.NL. Basically another dummy site. But when I see how easily I can now set up a web server, I have learned a thing or two, last year...
